Evangelos Lambrinoudis II
Slowcore in its most haunting and atmospheric. A truly unforgettable work, and wish I could have told you that in person. Your pain is gone. Rest easy you smokey skeleton.
Favorite track: Left Glimpses (with Edward McCormick).
Lost Tribe Sound
Some epic long form experimental folk. Brilliant sound palette and overall storytelling. Do yourself a favor and grab it on vinyl, Tenz went out of his way to make sure that experience was well worth it!
Favorite track: Nails Through Bird Feet Part Three (with Gaun Jacob Cochran).

Here at the slowwank office, we are immensely proud and excited to share our first release, “Nails Through Bird Feet” by the London based Canadian, Chris Tenz.
Even with a long list of contributors, the album maintains a sense of emotional expression and intimacy that we find to be rare in today’s music environments. Chris's focus for this album is the fragility of our memories, and on his relationship with his own troubling recollections.
The record took him five years to complete, and through it he chose to face a lot of himself. This has left us with the difficult task of trying to describe it to you, but that is often impossible to do when a record reaches you in such a personal way. So we will keep this simple: This is a record to be felt and explored, ideally alone in a dimly lit room with a stiff drink in hand.
We got rather carried away with the physical presentation itself. Along with the bonus 7", Chris explained to us that he needed closure with the last five years of his work. The cassette was something he compiled and mixed to represent anything he hadn’t finished or released that “will hopefully be useful to someone, someday."
We want to take this opportunity to thank you, on behalf of ourselves and the artist himself, for your interest in this beautiful collection of work.
"Reminds me of slices of early 1970's John Cale or This Kind of Punishment, combined with something I can't quite put my finger on. Really nice."

"The challenge to any artist is to realise the work envisioned in the mind. It’s a further challenge, and one often beyond the artist’s control, to see that the receivers of the work interpret it as intended or otherwise connect with the work’s meaning. It’s in these moments of silence that Tenz communicates and conveys the most. The sensation of waking from a half-remembered dream, bereft and between worlds drifts from every corner of the album."
-Aural Aggravation
"A catchy, slow pleat which also crawls into a snowy landscape completely under the skin."
-RifRaf Magazine (Belgium)
"Some parts give me goosebumps and that is what music is made for: to stand still for a moment and think about life. A very intense album."
-Peek A Boo Magazine
"It’s an album where self-examination and relentless introspective examination clash with subtle melodies that are swarming with emotion, and with every step there is heartbreak and revelation. 9 out of 10"
-Anthem Review
"Chris Tenz makes a brand of bedroom folk music as human as a Bonnie Prince ballad and as soaring as a Sigur Ros album. Ladies and gentlemen, this is what I want to find under the Christmas tree this year."

Laying in the high dry grass, listening to the crickets playing their song, wondering if times of true serenity were never over, but right there under my nose, the whole time. wraehkel

This should've gone out of print the month it was released. Most of the names here are still very active and at the time this line-up was extraordinarily significant for both this label, ambient/electronic/post-rock/isolationist music and the future labels represented by these artists. These tracks and artists are without a doubt still relevant in 2022. Don't continue to sleep on this just because its a decade+ old. Anthony Childs
